What is Sterling Silver?
Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by mass of silver and 7.5% by mass of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.
Fine silver (99.9% pure) is generally too soft for producing functional objects; therefore, the silver is usually alloyed with copper to give it strength while preserving the ductility and beauty of the precious metal.

Meet the Artist
My mother, born and raised on the island of Madagascar, passed on to her six children an appreciation for nature’s artwork. Shells, stones, pinecones, flowers, ocean waves, sunsets—all held her in awe. Thanks mostly to her influence, I’ve been drawn to shapes, patterns, textures, earth and sky-tones throughout the years, and have executed this interest through sewing, rosemaling, photography and needle-work.
It was 2007 when I fell in love with the art and craft of ‘metalsmithing’ under the tutelage of Kirk Sklar of Metal Heart Studio and school. Founding Jewelry by Stoneking later that year, I’m so grateful for Kirk’s guidance, patience and detailed instruction in a fascinating array of metal and stone jewelry-building techniques.
